The Quality Mark is about recognising minimum standards in teaching literacy and numeracy. Attainment of this award is based on a close partnership between the Basic Skills Agency, Local Education Authority and individual schools.
Basic skills are defined as: “the ability to read, write, speak and use mathematics at a level necessary to function and progress at work and in society in general.”
